Melissa Li High Res

Melissa Li is a research associate at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi), where she contributes to the institute’s work on peace and security.

Melissa studies international relations as part of a joint master’s program of Potsdam University, Humboldt University, and the Free University in Berlin. She holds an international bachelor’s degree in policy management from the City University of Applied Sciences in Bremen, focusing on international relations, human rights protection, and the politics of development. Her studies have been supported by the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

As part of her studies, Melissa interned with TERRE DES FEMMES e.V. There, she contributed to projects with partner organizations in Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, and Bulgaria that focused on the protection of women’s rights. Afterwards, she studied abroad at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, where she concentrated on gender issues and globalization debates in Africa. During an internship with the offices of Monika Lazar, a member of parliament in Germany, Melissa worked on strategies against right-wing extremism, migration, and internal security issues.
