Olan McEvoy


Olan McEvoy is an intern with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where he supports the institute’s work on human rights & democracy, particularly a global index on academic freedom. 

Olan recently completed his bachelor’s degree at Trinity College Dublin where he studied economics and political science. Throughout his degree he focused on issues in political economy and political theory. His research interests include the intersection of human rights & political economy, the political and economic integration of Europe, and the history of ideas. 

Previously, Olan worked as a research intern at the Trinity Centre for Social Innovation (TCSI) in Dublin. At the TCSI, he worked on a project testing a research methodology designed by the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB) organisation. The project looked at the progress by Irish companies in implementing non-financial reporting systems in line with EU directive 2014/​95/​EU and the Irish National Plan on Business & Human Rights. He also served as chairperson of Trinity Cancer Society during his time at university, a charitable organization dedicated to cancer awareness and fundraising.
