Miriam Matthiessen


Miriam Matthiessen is an intern with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where she supports the institute’s work on human rights and migration. Her research interests include the aid-governance nexus, development ethics, and inclusive urban development.

Miriam holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics, and economics from University College London. Alongside her degree she volunteered for International Alert in London and served as Student Ambassador for the Council for At-Risk Academics (Cara).

Previously, Miriam interned at the Consortium for Gender, Security, and Human Rights in Boston where she conducted research on women’s participation in the Colombian Peace Process, and at the Stockholm-based think tank Global Utmaning where she worked under the sustainable cities programme.
