Akseli Paillette-Liettilä


Akseli Paillette-Liettilä is an intern with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where he supports the institute’s work on peace and security. His research interests include the European Union’s security challenges in its Eastern neighborhood, conflict prevention, the role of international organizations, and political economy.

Akseli is currently in his last semester at the Freie Universität Berlin where he is working towards obtaining his bachelor’s degree in political science. He spent the 2017-2018 academic year at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, focusing on international disarmament and climate regimes. His stay was supported by the Berlin Consortium for German Studies.

Previously, Akseli interned with the German translation department of the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg and worked on privacy and data protection cases.
