GPPi Is Seeking a Research Assistant in Peace and Security

The Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) is seeking a part-time research assistant. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, efficient self-starter with a passion for peace and security in Europe and its neighborhood as well as excellent attention to detail to join our team in Berlin and work with us for between 16 and 32 hours per week.

The successful candidate will support our research, help manage a series of workshops, and perform administrative and communications duties related to a project on anticipating, preventing and responding to risks of violence and governance breakdown in Europe’s neighborhood.

This is a position particularly suited for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in the Berlin area. 

What we are looking for:

  • Strong analytical skills and an outstanding academic background in the social sciences, international relations/​law, public policy, or a related field (at least 3 semesters of studies completed);
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with excellent time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks independently and in parallel, demonstrated, for example, by previous professional experience, major group projects at university or in extracurricular leadership roles (please provide specific details in your letter of interest; experience in workshop/​event management is a plus);
  • Excellent written and spoken English-language skills (GPPi’s working language is English); Knowledge of German and other languages is a plus;
  • Someone who is self-driven and able to work independently within a team context; 
  • Experience working on European and/​or German foreign policy, conflict prevention, conflict analysis; knowledge of quantitative methods is a plus.

Starting date: as soon as possible.
