Sofia Schappert is an intern with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin, where she supports the institute’s work on innovation in development. Her research interests lie in economic policy, climate policy, government accountability and transparency, and social conflict theory. She is interested in the intersection of policy areas in relation to development, such as how economic policy will progress in the face of changing environmental and social dynamics.
Sofia holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and economics from New York University, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public policy at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. Before joining GPPi, she worked in research, advocacy campaigning, and partnership communication with HealthRight International and the Nepal Fertility Care Centre International in New York. During this time, she collaborated with the UN, Council members in New York, journalists, academics, and artists.
