Martin Sprott

Non-Resident Fellow

Martin Sprott is a non-resident fellow with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi). His research and consulting focus areas are private sector development, trade policy, and environmental issues.

He is currently a principal with A.T. Kearney, a strategy consulting company. Based in Johannesburg, he advises organizations across Africa in strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure investment, and partnership management.

His research interest includes issues relating to private sector contributions to development and environmental management. Among other assignments he has advised the UN Secretariat in an evaluation of their business partnerships in the area of climate change and supported industrial companies in developing global strategies to manage their energy use and carbon emissions.

Prior to working with A.T. Kearney, Martin was a director of Meinertz, Sprott & Company, an advisory firm specializing in the energy and electronics sectors. Here he restructured the operations of the European electronics company Grundig. This was first at the global level and later as managing director of its Nordic division. Before this he worked for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in their energy and telecoms practices, advising numerous leading companies on strategy development, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.

Martin holds a law degree and an MSc in international political economy, both from the London School of Economics.
