Johannes Gabriel is a non-resident fellow with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin. His areas of expertise include future studies and organizational strategy development. Johannes has been a member of the Global Governance 2020undefined and Global Governance 2022undefined program teams.

Johannes is the founder of Foresight Intelligence, a research and consulting firm that supports strategic planning and decision-making processes in organizations.

Prior to that, he worked as a freelancing researcher and consultant with federal security authorities, think tanks, and firms. For instance, he was involved in research on the future of China’s society, economy, and politics as well as in scenario analysis of global financial market regulation. In 2011-2012, he conducted an analysis of informal networks as part of a strategic foresight consultancy for a multinational corporation in Southeast Asia. He has also engaged in research on the transformation of energy and innovation systems.

Johannes has authored and co-authored research articles for, among others, the yearbook of the German Council on Foreign Relations, Internationale Politik and the European Journal of Futures Research. He received a master's degree with distinction in political science and economics as well as a certificate in modern Chinese language from the University of Trier. From 2009 to 2011 he was a  PhD fellow with the Society and Technology Research Group in Berlin, the Daimler AG’s foresight division. In 2011 he completed his PhD thesis on theoretical aspects of future studies.
