Domenica Preysing was a research associate with the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin. Her research interests include international development cooperation, development finance, public finance in emerging economies with a special focus on fiscal decentralization reform, as well as poverty-environment mainstreaming.

Prior to joining GPPi, Domenica spent a number of years in the Middle East. Her professional profile combines development policy research and consultancy with managerial level practice in local socio-economic and cultural development. Her research and consultancy experience includes assignments with the United Nations, the American University of Cairo, and the Hanns-Seidel Foundation, as well as extensive risk analysis work on the Middle East and North Africa region.

Domenica holds a Master of Public Policy and Administration from the American University in Cairo, Egypt, with specialisation on policy design and management in emerging economies, and a MA (hons) in history and politics from the University of Edinburgh in the UK, with a focus on the Middle East and Africa. She also received a Certificat d’Etudes Politiques from Science Po Grenoble, France. She was awarded with the Simon Gray Prize for the most distinguished work in politics in 2003 and with AUC graduate scholarship awards in 2008 and 2009.
