GPPi researchers train scholars of the ASA-Programme / Global Education Network for Young Europeans

GPPi Research Associate Kai Koddenbrock and Research Assistant Claudia Meier were selected to train scholars of the ASA-Programme and the Global Education Network for Young Europeans (GLEN) during their preparation for internships in developing countries. The program will take place between April and June 2009.

The ASA-Programme and GLEN award scholarships for 3 month internships in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America to 300 students and young professionals. GLEN comprises organizations from Germany, France, and several Eastern European countries. The internships are completed in a variety of organizations ranging from grass roots movements to big international organiztions. They contribute to a diverse set of programs, ranging from sustainable tourism in the Occupied Palestinian Territories to promoting women entrepreneurship in Ethiopia. The internships are part of a larger learning cycle, the ultimate goal of which is to commit participants to become active agents for sustainable and socially fair solutions of current global development challenges.

Kai and Claudia will contribute to training participants to recognize global interdependencies, to develop competencies in conflict management and to analyze current questions of international development policies. Claudia will train and coach the participants undertaking their internship in India, while Kai is one of the two lead facilitators of the GLEN-Géco francophone group preparing scholars from Germany, France and Poland for their stay in West-Africa.
