GPPi participates in Konrad Adenauer Foundation workshop in South Africa

On 25 August 2011, GPPi Associate Director Thorsten Benner contributed to a workshop in Pretoria, South Africa, called Supporting Government Policy Making: Sharing South African and German Think Tank Experiences on the UN Security Council. The workshop was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in cooperation with the South African Institute of International Affairs. It was hosted by the Institute for Security Studies.

In his remarks, Benner stressed the need for think tanks to provide well-informed analysis on the activities of the United Nations system. Since the center of gravity of UN activities has increasingly moved to the field in recent decades, think tanks need to be able to conduct field research that in turn influences their political recommendations.
