The third edition of the UN-Business Focal Point now available

The third edition of the The UN-Business Focal Point has been published by the United Nations Global Compact Office. The newsletter is published on a quarterly basis and is aimed at UN private sector focal points, employees in UN agencies who coordinate with the private sector.

The third edition includes an expanded "Themes and Debates" section which reflects increasing engagement and contributions by readers of the newsletter. Topics covered include Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s final "Report on the Work of the Organization"; the revamping of the UN-Business website; UN project status reports and "lessons-learned" articles detailing project initiatives; Mary Robinson’s speech on business and human rights; and more. In addition, a number of new UN-business partnership initiatives are highlighted, including UN partnerships with companies such as Dow Chemicals, Google and Futbol Club Barcelona. Upcoming events and contact information for new focal points offer useful up-to-date information, while the "Tools and Resources" section provides numerous new publications or resources relevant to both UN focal points and businesses, addressing topics such as business and AIDS, partnership effectiveness and a new corruption initiative by the World Bank.

GPPi provides and coordinates content for the newsletter under the direction of the UN Global Compact Office. With contributions from focal points representing a number of agencies within the UN, the purpose of the newsletter is to provide these focal points with the latest news, tools, resources and lessons learned concerning the UN System's engagement with the private sector.
