Munich Security Conference announces cooperation with the Global Public Policy Institute
In January 2010, Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), announced the cooperation with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi). As this year’s think tank partner of the MSC, GPPi will contribute short background papers on the core themes of the 2010 conference. The MSC booklet will make these contributions available to the participants of the conference that will take place from 5-7 February 2010.
The GPPi team for this assignment includes GPPi co-founder and Associate Director Thorsten Benner, research associates Raphael Bossong, Stephan Mergenthaler and Joel Sandhu as well as non-resident fellows Andreas Goldthau, Philipp Rotmann and Michael Schmidmayr. Timo Noetzel, senior policy advisor to the MSC chairman, Research Group Leader at Konstanz University and Fellow with the stiftung neue verantwortung, complements the team.
The Global Public Policy Institute is an independent and non-profit think tank based in Berlin and Geneva. In 2003, GPPi opened its main office in Berlin. GPPi’s research and consulting activities focus on European and global security governance, global energy governance and humanitarian assistance, among others. GPPi cooperates with a number of research institutions in China, Europe and the US, including the Brookings Institution, Princeton University, Fudan University, Peking University and Oxford University. The institute also provides advice to a number of German institutions (e.g. the German Ministry for Development Cooperation and GTZ) as well as numerous UN organizations as well as the World Bank.
