Mark Malloch Brown, Annan’s Chef de Cabinet and GPPi Advisory Board member, named new UN Deputy Secretary-General
GPPi Advisory Board member and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Chef de Cabinet, Mark Malloch Brown, has been named UN Deputy Secretary-General as of 1 April, when current incumbent Louise Fréchette steps down.
As Chef de Cabinet, Malloch Brown helped push forward an ambitious management reform agenda for the UN Secretariat. Before being appointed as Chef de Cabinet in January 2005, Malloch Brown was head of the UN Development Programme where he, among other things, promoted improved cooperation with the private sector for the UN to reach its development goals.
