Issue 6 of the UN-Business Focal Point newsletter now available

The sixth edition of the The UN-Business Focal Point has been published by the United Nations Global Compact Office. The newsletter is published on a quarterly basis and is aimed at UN private sector focal points, employees in UN agencies who coordinate with the private sector. GPPi provides and coordinates content for the newsletter under the direction of the UN Global Compact Office. With contributions from focal points representing a number of agencies within the UN, the purpose of the newsletter is to provide these focal points with the latest news, tools, resources and lessons learned concerning the UN System's engagement with the private sector.

The sixth edition includes a number of interesting articles, including in-depth descriptions of the recent UN Global Compact Leaders Summit and side events held on 5-6 July 2007 in Geneva, as well as summaries from other recent events which addressed wide-ranging issues regarding the formation of public-private partnerships. In addition, a number of new UN-business partnerships are highlighted, including an initiative between UNDP and ArcelorMittal to combat climate change and a partnership between UN-HABITAT and Coca-Cola to promote clean water, among others. In addition, a list of upcoming events offers useful up-to-date information, while the "Tools and Resources" section provides numerous new publications or resources relevant to both UN focal points and businesses, such as the recently released UN Global Compact publication "Enhancing Partnership Value: A Tool to Assess Sustainability and Impact".
