GPPi und UNDP to co-host Oslo conference on partnerships

On April 25th, the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are co-hosting a conference on United Nations and Business Partnerships: New Opportunities in Partnering for Development in Oslo, Norway.

The conference will explore the increasing number of partnerships in which corporations, international organisations, governments and civil society collaborate to address development challenges such as poverty, corruption or HIV/AIDS. When are partnerships effective in solving global problems? What do companies gain from engaging in partnerships? Which contributions from business are most valuable for development?

The conference brings together business representatives, government officials, UN staff, and the NGO and research communities to discuss these questions. Erik Solheim, Norway’s Minister for International Development, will open the conference. GPPi Associate Director Jan Martin Witte will present GPPi’s recent study Business UNusual: Facilitating UN Reform Through Partnerships. Participants will have the chance to explore practical opportunities for engaging in partnerships in several workshops.
