GPPi publishes MMSD history paper
The Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development History Project, directed by GPPi, aimed to capture the experiences of several key figures who led the MMSD Project. The idea was to secure their personal recollections of how the MMSD process was launched and how it progressed through its more than two years of existence. This exercise provided former key staffers of the MMSD Project with an opportunity to present their subjective history of the key challenges they encountered in the MMSD Project and how these problems were resolved.
Authored by Luke Danielson, former MMSD Project Director, and Caroline Digby, former MMSD Research Director, "Architecture for Change: An Account of the Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development Project" highlights the many facets of a research project endowed with high expectations despite considerable pressure on time and resources. The personal perspectives offered by Danielson and Digby cover the entire process from start to finish, from buying office furniture to ensuring multi-stakeholder dialogue and legitimacy. Well-written and a fascinating insight into the MMSD process and the subject of sustainable development.
