GPPi presents on the World Bank's Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA)
GPPi presented initial results of an ongoing study on the World Bank's Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) at an internal conference of the German Association for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), which took place from 20-22 August 2008 in Bonn, Germany.
The CPIA is an assessment tool for rating the quality of country policies and institutions. The World Bank carries out this assessment on an annual basis and uses its results as part of its performance-based allocation system. GPPi has been commissioned by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to conduct a study on the CPIA.
The three-day GTZ seminar with over 100, predominantly internal participants served to exchange knowledge and experiences among GTZ and BMZ staff members. The meeting focused on economic policies and private sector development. Preliminary results of the CPIA study were presented jointly by Julia Steets, Associate Director GPPi, and Ulla Keppel, GTZ, during a session focusing on different methods and tools used for economic consultancies.
