GPPi presents Monitoring and Evaluation Framework at the First International Workshop for Gender Advisers in Humanitarian Action

GPPiC’s Managing Director Jan Martin Witte and Project Associate Andrea Binder presented a draft version of the GenCap Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework at the First International Workshop for Gender Advisers in Humanitarian Action from 27 May - 2 June 2007 in Geneva.

Witte and Binder presented the framework which will provide the soon to be deployed Gender Advisers with the tools to assess the gender performance of humanitarian missions, to prioritize their tasks during their deployment, to report on their activities and to measure the Gender Advisers’ impact. The framework consists of three main tools to help accomplish these objectives: The scorecard, which will measure the effectiveness, relevance and impact of the gender adviser and establish a mechanism to gather good practices and lessons learned; the planning journal, which will provide the gender adviser with a practical work planning and time management tool; and the baseline assessment tool, which will help the gender advisers to prioritize their tasks through a procedure to collect basic data on gender performance of humanitarian missions.

Following the presentation, feedback was given on the M&E tool from Gender Advisers and Country Staff for the fine tuning of the M&E tool kit.
