GPPi participates in panel at European Foundation Centre's Summer Academy on "Impact-Driven Philanthropy"
GPPi Associate Director Jan Martin Witte was a panelist at the European Foundation Centre's Summer Academy on "Impact-Driven Philanthropy" which took place on 3 -5 September in Heidelberg. The event was coorganized by the Centre for Social Investment, University of Heidelberg.
This year's Summer Academy aimed to introduce participants to the development process of high-impact philanthropy by displaying the rich panorama of leverage points a foundation has at its disposal to create impact. Through interactive group discussions and case study analysis, sessions also examined factors which may influence high-impact philanthropic strategies, such as internal and external conditions, leadership strategies and management.
Jan Martin Witte participated in a panel on "Economic efficiency vs. creativity in philanthropy" which focused on professional project management, controlling and planning in the non-profit sector, which are often perceived as preventions to the ability to do good. Speakers at this session discussed whether or not this dilemma can be resolved.
