GPPi associate contributes to Fischer Weltalmanach 2008
GPPi Research Associate Philipp Rotmann contributed a chapter on international organizations to the 2008 edition of the Fischer Weltalmanach, Germany's premier encyclopedia on global affairs. The chapter covers the United Nations system as well as 20 other intergovernmental and nongovernmental agencies such as the African Union, the Group of 8, the International Energy Agency, the World Conservation Union, NATO, OPEC, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the World Bank.
Each year, the handbook presents updated facts and figures as well as a chronicle of events in politics, the economy, the environment, culture and sports over the past year with regard to the world's 194 states and major international bodies. In a separate CD-ROM edition, the Fischer Weltalmanach provides access to the handbook's content in a digital format which allows the comparative analysis of country data in charts and spreadsheets (including time series data since 1960) as well as the easy export of all maps, figures, flags and pictures.
The 2008 edition is being published on 1 September and includes a series of feature articles on world energy issues.
