GPPi awarded grant by GMF for Transatlantic Energy Security Dialogues
The German Marshall Fund of the United States has awarded GPPi a grant to organize a series of "Transatlantic Energy Security Dialogues," starting in the Fall of 2006. The purpose of this new GPPi program is to promote a transatlantic dialogue on energy security by bringing together highly qualified young professionals focusing on these issues. The Transatlantic Energy Security Dialogues will bring together participants from all relevant sectors (including government, NGOs, business, the media, think tanks and universities) in order to promote a strategic community for building bridges between the US and Europe. The first sessions will focus on two specific aspects of energy security (the liberalization of the energy markets in Europe and America and consequences for security of supply, and the strategic implications of China’s and India’s increasing energy consumption) and prepare the ground for further transatlantic dialogue on the whole spectrum of energy security.
The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a nonpartisan American public policy and grantmaking institution dedicated to promoting greater cooperation and understanding between the United States and Europe. The Transatlantic Network Building grants are committed to supporting a wide network of organizations that encourage dialogue and network building between Americans and Europeans. The grants support ongoing lecture or seminar series, as well as recurrent small conferences targeting specific populations, with an emphasis on transatlantic issues
