Steffen Eckhard

Steffen Eckhard is a research associate with the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin and a PhD candidate at the University of Konstanz. His research focuses on international bureaucracies (such as the United Nations, the European Union and the OSCE) in the context of global security governance, complex peace operations and state-building.
He spent several months in Kosovo and Afghanistan researching the international peace operations there. He has also published on these topics. His work experience includes internships with the German Embassy in Pretoria and BMW in Johannesburg (South Africa) and a visiting fellowship at the Kosovar Institute for Policy Research and Development in Pristina (Kosovo). He is also associated with the DFG-funded Center of Excellence (Exc-16) "Cultural Foundations of Integration" at the University of Konstanz.
Steffen received a master's in political and administrative science from the University of Konstanz where he also completed his undergraduate studies. He has spent exchange semesters at the University of Stockholm (Sweden) and the University of Grenoble (France). In support of his studies, Steffen received scholarships from the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation (FES), the Center of Excellence (Exc-16), the Ministry of Education Baden-Württemberg (LGFG), and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
