Research Assistant

Robert Marten

Robert Marten is a Research Assistant with the Global Public Policy Institute, Berlin. He recently graduated as a Master of Public Policy fellow from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, and is now serving on the Alumni Council. His research interests focus on international development, international organizations, public health, transatlantic relations and global governance.  Alongside his work at GPPi, he has also received a fellowship to participate in Humanity in Action’s human rights educational program in Germany for June and July of 2008.

His experience includes work in Vietnam and Burma with Volunteers-in-Asia, SwissContact, USAID, the Vietnam Education Foundation, CARE, the Vietnamese government and the Netherlands Medical Committee. He also served as programme manager for a United Nations Volunteers (UNV) project working with people living with HIV/AIDS in Hanoi, Vietnam. Most recently, he interned with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Nairobi, Kenya and Monrovia, Liberia. Robert holds a BA (Honours History and Political Science) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
