Markus A. Palenberg

Markus Palenberg is the managing director of the Institute for Development Strategy (IDS), Munich and a fellow at the Global Public Policy Institute, Berlin.
From 2005-2008 Markus co-led the GPPi Consulting Practice and specialized in global and regional partnership programs and public-private development partnerships, leading evaluations and research assignments for these instruments. Before joining GPPi in 2005, Markus held senior management and consulting positions. From 2000-2004, he was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, Inc. in its Paris, Cologne and Munich offices. As Project Manager, he specialized in strategy projects in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors. He was also Corporate Projects Manager with the Scout24 Group, responsible for strategy, mergers & acquisition and change management projects.
Markus holds a PhD in theoretical physics from RWTH Aachen, Germany and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, United States, for two years.
