Visiting Researcher

Derrick Sutter

Derrick Sutter is a visiting researcher at the Global Public Policy Institute, Berlin. As an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation German Chancellor Fellow, he is currently conducting research at the Otto Suhr Institute for Political Science at Free University of Berlin on environmental and energy cooperation between China, Germany, and the European Union. 

He received his undergraduate degree in East Asian Studies and Political Science from Yale University in 2009 after having spent the 2006-2007 academic year studying in mainland China as a member of the inaugural class of the Peking-Yale Universities Joint Undergraduate Program at Peking University and as a Yale Light Fellow at Tsinghua University and the Harbin Institute of Technology. 

Following graduation, Derrick served as a Fox International Fellow at Fudan University in Shanghai where he researched the conceptual evolution of privacy in urban China in the post-Mao era.  He has also studied in Japan, Taiwan and Croatia and previously lived in Hong Kong and New Zealand.
