James Hollway

James Hollway was an intern with the Global Public Policy Institute, Berlin, during the summer of 2009. His research interests include transformations of the state and issues of global governance, particularly the role and development of international law in those areas.

James is currently studying for an MA International Relations in Global Governance and Social Theory at Jacobs University Bremen and Universität Bremen. Prior to joining GPPi, he was a research assistant at the Transformations of the State Research Centre in Bremen, working on legitimation and participation in international organizations, and the transformations of the tax state with regard to European integration. James also worked as a freelance editor, language-skills instructor and consultant, specializing in English-language management skills and cultural training.

James holds a law degree from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, as well as a BA in Political Science, focusing on international law and international relations respectively. He is also founder of an interdisciplinary online academic journal bringing together collaborative review and evaluation to generate academic excellence.

During his time with GPPi, James contributed to two UN related projects: “Learning to Build Peace” and “The UN Secretariat and Accountability”.
