Jakob Thomä

Jakob Thomä was an intern at the Global Public Policy Institute, Berlin during the spring of 2009. He is currently enrolled at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London as an undergraduate student majoring in Turkish and economics. Jakob received a US High School Diploma and a German Abitur at the German-American John F. Kennedy School in Berlin, Germany. He is a scholar of the German National Academic Foundation.

Jakob has previously been involved in the Model United Nations Program, serving as Secretary-General for two conferences (BERMUN and BERMUN2), and has participated in various leadership conferences including the HOBY World Leadership Congress in Washington D.C. His most recent project has been organizing outreach HIV/AIDS educational sessions at Berlin schools as part of the HIV/AIDS Education and Learning Program.

His research interests focus on energy governance, the economics of extractive industries and the new role of the United Nations in the 21st Century. During his internship with GPPi, he will contribute to the “Global Atlanticists” program.
