Sören Buttkereit

Sören Buttkereit is an Engagement Manager in the Munich Office of McKinsey & Company, Inc. He is affiliated to McKinsey's Consumer Industry Group and is a member of the global initiative "Business in Society and Regulatory Strategy", looking at innovative ways of managing the interplay between business and society. Sören has been advising organizations in both the private and the public sector, often acting at the interface of both.

His expertise encompasses strategy and business building, change management processes and human resources. Previous work experience in private and public institutions took him to Guatemala, Venezuela and the US, among others, where he mainly dealt with matters of international cooperation and development.

Sören holds a Masters degree in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at the Johns Hopkins University and a diploma (master equivalent) in International Business Studies from the University of Passau. He is currently pursuing a part-time Ph.D. in economics at the University of Halle-Wittenberg, working on the issue of cooperation between the public and private sectors.

He received scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes) and was awarded the Christian A. Herter Award for distinguished academic performance. Sören is a member of the Tönissteiner Kreis, an association dedicated to the promotion of young international leaders.
