Sören Buttkereit
Sören Buttkereit is an Expert in the Munich Office of McKinsey & Company. He is affiliated to McKinsey's Strategy Practice and is a member of the global initiative "Business in Society and Regulatory Strategy", looking at innovative ways of managing the interplay between business and society. Sören has been advising organizations in both the private and the public sector, often acting at the interface of both.
His expertise encompasses strategic issues around sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable urban development. Previous work experience in private and public institutions took him to Guatemala, Venezuela and the US, among others, where he mainly dealt with matters of international cooperation and development.
Sören received a Ph.D. in Economics from the Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg, focusing on the cooperation between the public and private sectors in his research. He also holds a Masters degree in International Relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at the Johns Hopkins University and a diploma (master equivalent) in International Business Studies from the University of Passau.
He received scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes) and was awarded the Christian A. Herter Award for distinguished academic performance.
