Oliver Wiechoczek
Oliver Wiechoczek has been working in the Europe Department of the German Ministry of Finance in Berlin since 2006 on issues of European fiscal and economic policy. He is currently seconded to the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment in Bercy where he focuses on the European Economic and Monetary Union. Oliver was a Summer Fellow with the Global Public Policy Institute in July and August 2005. During his assignment he contributed to the Hertie School of Governance executive education seminar on “global public policy” and supported GPPi’s research on development policy.
Oliver studied at the University of Passau and the Université Laval in Québec, Canada (M.A. in International Business and Cultural Studies) and holds an M.A. in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium (Beethoven Promotion).
His work experience includes internships with the advertising agency Publicis and the S. Fischer publishing house in Frankfurt. He also co-led a project for the intercultural management consultancy ICUNet.Ag in Passau on doing business in Canada. He received fellowships from the Bayerische Begabtenförderung and the European Movement Germany. For his master’s thesis on the EU’s contribution to the global governance of infectious diseases he received the 2006 EFPIA award.
