Jan Ortgies

Jan Ortgies is currently pursuing a Master of International and European Law at the Amsterdam Law School, University of Amsterdam. (LLM Public International Law expected 2008). He holds a BA International Relations from the Technical University of Dresden. During his bachelors he spent a semester at the Tec de Monterrey in Mexico City, Campus Estado de México. Jan received scholarships from the German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) and the e-fellows foundation.

His work experience include internships with a concert management agency, a component supplier in Spain, and a MP of the German Bundestag (Willy Wimmer, Committee on Foreign Policy). Among other off-campus activities he participated in a Harvard Model United Nations and an a Summer Academy on cognitive sciences.

Jan was an intern with the Global Public Policy Institute, Berlin during February and March 2006. During his internship, Jan's main responsibility was to assist GPPi's research work on the United Nations Learning to Build Peace Project. He also supported GPPi’s evolving work on energy security and assisted in a teaching case on Outsourcing to China and India.
