Hannes Ebert

Hannes Ebert is a research fellow at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies and is pursuing his PhD on regional security in South Asia.

Hannes was a research assistant with GPPi from January 2008 to September 2008 following an internship in 2007. In both positions, he conducted research on post-conflict judicial reform and reintegration programs for the project Learning to Build Peace? The United Nations, Peace Operations and Learning Mechanisms.

His previous work experience includes analyzing armed conflicts in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London and researching security governance in Pakistan at the German Institute of International and Security Affairs and the Collaborative Research Center 700 (SFB). Hannes has also worked as a research associate and program coordinator at Harvard University’s Center for European Studies.

Hannes holds a master’s in international relations theory from the London School of Economics and completed his undergraduate studies in political science at the Freie Universität in Berlin. As part of his studies at the FU, he spent a year abroad at the Graduate Institute of International Studies and Development in Geneva. He has received scholarships from the VolkswagenStiftung, German National Academic Foundation, Theodor Pfizer Foundation and the Swiss government.
